Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do I know that counselling is for me?
A. Counselling services allow us to address personal concerns and areas that may be difficult to resolve on our own. In a counselling setting we are in a confidential, safe and supportive environment with a trained professional. Sometimes, the mere exploration of a part of your life in a safe and confidential environment brings about enough awareness to benefit you with lasting change and resolution.
Q. How does it work?
A. After meeting with your counsellor, you begin by describing your concerns, what areas you would like to explore and discuss outcomes that you are looking for.
Q. Why should I seek counselling when I can just talk to my friends and family?
A. Sometimes we do not feel comfortable sharing our concerns with those who are closest to us. A counsellor works to listen to you with focused, undivided attention and with the professional objectivity and training to help you get the benefits and changes you are looking for.
Q. How long does it take?
A. The duration of the process depends on the nature and variety of the issues presented and on the frequency of visits. Generally, weekly sessions are recommended. However, due to obstacles some clients may face, other scheduling options are explored. Note that with larger gaps between sessions, the process may take longer and that the effectiveness of the work done may be compromised.
Q. Is there coverage?
